Welcome to Atlantic Design & Manufacturing
With over 12 years of experience machining and a background in mechanical/electrical/materials engineering, we provide quality work with the technical background to support it.

Drew first delved into machining in the summer of 2007 at the completion of his freshman year at NC State University where he was studying mechanical engineering. He bought a small desktop milling machine and it wasn’t 2 months later that he had turned it into a CNC machine by adding stepper motors and a control system. He sold that CNC machine and bought a larger milling machine and a small lathe.
Drew completed his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering at NC State University in 2010 and during this time discovered his passion for manufacturing and design work. He decided to continue his education at NC State University and earned a masters degree in mechanical engineering, a masters degree in material science and engineering, and a doctorate in mechanical engineering. As an undergraduate, his passion for design is what he focused on in graduate school. His research dealt with finite element analysis for the design of explosive systems.
After completing graduate school in 2014, Drew went to work for Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM where he worked on detonator designs for nuclear weapons using large simulation codes similar to finite element analysis. Drew then worked for a defense contractor where he designed systems for manufacturing wafer level technology for radar communications. With all of this experience, he decided to open a design and manufacturing business where he could help people with design work as well as manufacturing their designs.
